Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) — Mitch McConnell is from Louisville, Ky. He was born in Colbert County, Ala. on Feb. 20, 1942. McConnell graduated with honors from the University of Louisville in 1964 and earned a J.D. from the University of Kentucky Law School in 1967. He served as a deputy assistant U.S. Attorney General from 1974 to 1975 and as the Judge/Executive of Jefferson County, Ky., from 1978 to 1984. McConnell was first elected to the U.S. Senate on Nov. 6, 1984. He married Elaine Chao on Feb. 6, 1993 and has three children from a previous marriage: Elly, Claire, and Porter.
