Full Text of this Amendment
SA 900. Ms. SNOWE (for herself and Ms. Landrieu) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by her to the bill H.R. 2112, making appropriations for Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies programs for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2012, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
On page 108, between lines 22 and 23, insert the following:
Sec. 114. (a) None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this title may be obligated or expended to terminate the operations of an office of the United States and Foreign Commercial Service in the embassy of the United States in a country described in subsection (b).
(b) A country described in this subsection is a country for which the ratio of the volume of goods and services exported to that country by small businesses in the United States in fiscal year 2007 to the volume of all goods and services exported to that country from the United States in that fiscal year exceeds by not less than 20 percent the ratio of the volume of goods and services exported to all countries by small businesses in the United States in that fiscal year to the volume of all
goods and services exported to all countries from the United States in that fiscal year.
(c) For purposes of subsection (b), the volume of goods and services exported from the United States in fiscal year 2007 shall be determined using data of the Bureau of the Census for that fiscal year.
