Full Text of this Amendment
SA 913. Mr. CASEY (for himself, Mr. Blumenthal, and Ms. Klobuchar) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed to amendment SA 738 proposed by Mr. INOUYE to the bill H.R. 2112, making appropriations for Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies programs for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2012, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the appropriate place in title VII of division A, insert the following:
Sec. __. An additional $10,000,000 shall be appropriated for the Office of the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration to enable such Office to remedy the current drug shortage crisis and to prevent future shortages, including through the creation of information systems for tracking drug shortages and actions taken by the Food and Drug Administration to address such shortages, enhanced communication with manufacturers to establish continuity of operation plans, development of evidenced-based
criteria for identifying medically necessary drugs that may be vulnerable to a shortage, and enhanced communication with heath care providers about current shortages and their estimated duration.
